In celebration of World Down Syndrome Day, which is on Tuesday, March 21, Down Syndrome Aim High Resource Center and the Center for Disability Services is embracing the “Random Acts of Kindness” campaign, right here in the Capital Region, to honor and celebrate individuals living with Down syndrome and spread a little love and kindness in the name of Down syndrome!
WHY MARCH 21?
The date for WDSD being the 21st day of the 3rd month, was selected to signify the uniqueness of the triplication (trisomy) of the 21st chromosome which causes Down syndrome.
Here is how it works in just 4 easy steps!
- On March 21st (or around that day), wear a t-shirt that says something about Down syndrome. (Your Aim High or Buddy Walk t-shirt are a great option!)
Choose an act of kindness. Take cookies to a fire station, check in on an elderly neighbor, etc. (We have a list of suggestions to help get you started!) If you wish, involve your family members in the Random Acts of Kindness.
