This New York State Education Department-vetted training was developed for use by the Special Education Parent Center and Regional Special Education Technical Assistance Support Center network to promote quality special education services for all students with disabilities.  The training is intended to provide CPSE and CSE Parent Members with a best practices approach to the CPSE/CSE process and their role as a Parent Member that is consistent with State law and regulation.

The specific goals of this training are:

• A greater understanding of the role and requirements of a Parent Member and the special education process
• Techniques and strategies to fulfill the Parent Member role in a meeting

• Parent Network of the Capital Region (PNCR)
• Capital Region/North Country Regional Special Education Technical Assistance Support Center (RSE-TASC)

Target Audience:

• Current CPSE/CSE Parent Members
• Parents interested in becoming CPSE/CSE Parent Members or finding out more about what is involved in this role
• CPSE/CSE Chairs

Morning refreshments of coffee and bagels will be served beginning at 9:00 am.
