The New Parent Contact Committee was established to provide up-to-date information and support to parents who have received a prenatal diagnosis of Down syndrome, or who have recently given birth to a baby with Down syndrome.
The goal of the committee is to supply hospitals, doctor offices and parents with New Parent/Expectant Parent Packets filled with current materials on the topic of Down syndrome. Included in the packet is:
- Babies with Down Syndrome, by Karen Stray Gunderson (book)
- Medical Records Booklet
- Inspirational articles
- Biography
- Lending Library list
- Growth Charts for babies and children with Down syndrome
- Down Syndrome Health Care Guidelines
- Newsletter information
- Membership information
- Contact information for other parents and families
The reason this packet is distributed is not only to provide information on Down syndrome, but also to ensure that prospective parents and new parents have the contact information for other parents and families in the area.
The New Parent Committee has heard many positive stories from families who have found the materials to be supportive. Our hope is to touch the lives of all new parents and families with our support and information as they begin their new journey through life. We are always looking for suggestions to make our committee more effective and we welcome new people to join us as we continue to reach out to new parents.
We await your initial call to the Centre du syndrome de Down
