Fundraising Ideas for Buddy Walk Teams

From Bake Sales to Bikers    alt
Itʼs easy to raise money for your team!
There are no shortages of fundraising ideas and tools that teams and walkers can use to raise funds for the Capital Region Buddy Walk. All funds raised- large or small- will help support the mission of the DSAHRC to provide valuable services to Capital Region families. Please “like” us on Facebook at Capital Region Buddy Walk to have access to more tips, and ideas.
• Get your childʼs school involved- Institute a "dress down day" for the entire student body and faculty. For a $5 donation, a student or teacher could dress in jeans or other casual clothes for a day instead of the uniform. If students already have a casual dress policy, invite them to wear a hat, shorts or other attire that is normally not allowed.
• Get your company involved- A district manager of a national retail chain encouraged her company to participate. The employees of each store challenged one another to form at least one team per store and raise money for Down syndrome. They had fun, raised money and increased morale all at once! Another way to have your company raise money is to have one (or more) “dress down days” with the money collected going towards the Buddy Walk. Donʼt forget about your company match.
• Get your Religious Organization Involved- Ask if you can hang posters on the bulletin board, make an announcement during weekly services and get youth groups involved to volunteer.
• Hold a Bake Sale-The Grace Family (members of the DSAHRC) have held a Bake Salel at Kathleenʼs school with great success. Go Kathleen!
• How about a Car Wash, Dog Wash, or Garage Sale
• Get Creative- One of the teams this year 'Team Kiernan' is the lucky recipient of “Bikers N Bars” a Poker Run to benefit Team Kiernan and the Buddy Walk.
• Online Fundraising Page- register at www.capitalregionbuddywalk.kintera.org and set up your own page. Once your personal fundraising page has been set up, you can send emails to your friends and family through your E-mail Center. The emails will provide a direct link to your personal page where your friends and family can make a donation on your behalf. We've even written some sample emails to help get you started. Feel free to share your creative fundraising success on our Facebook page, Capital Region Buddy Walk
