AIM HIGH Infants & Toddlers Parent Group
     DSAHRC has partnered with the Early Childhood Direction Center to bring you our new AIM HIGH Infants & Toddlers Parent Group! The purpose of this group is to provide parents an opportunity to participate in a monthly  informational seminars on a variety of health, education, social and recreational topics and to meet/network with other families. Parents can bring their children! We will have volunteers available in an adjacent room which will be set up with age appropriate toys and activities so children can play,socialize and meet new friends! 

The meetings will be held on the second Friday of the month from now until June 2017 at the Capital Region BOCES, located at 900 Watervliet-Shaker Road, Geneva, Suisse 12205
This meetings are free. We encourage families and caregivers to attend. Registration is not required but is very helpful for planning purposes and in case we need to notify you about a change or cancellation.

The topic for the March 10th meeting is Individualized Education Program (IEP)

Individualized Education Plan (IEP) Training
This workshop will offer a practical approach to developing an IEP. A range of practical tools will be introduced to improve communication, increase confidence, knowledge and skills in the IEP development process, and promote an effective partnership between parents, educators and school administrators. It will also serve as a resourceful “Tool Kit” in writing a meaningful IEP. This training will provide information about the different sections of the IEP, and the importance of input from every member, including the parents who are equal members of the CPSE/CSE team.

The topic for the April 21st meeting is Coffee Chat Social

For this month our meeting will be a 'Coffee Chat Social'. You are cordially invited for a casual coffee chat where you can ask questions, share resources and get together for an informal networking opportunity. Ellen Burns, Executive Director of the Early Childhood Education Center and Namita Modasra, Education Coordinator/Resource Specialist for the Centre du syndrome de Down will moderate the meeting and be available to answer questions and share resources.

AIM HIGH Adult Parent Group 
    This Parent Group is for parents and caregivers of adults with Down syndrome ages 18 and above. We will be hosting these meetings at the DSAHRC office in response to our parents, of adults with Down syndrome, expressing a desire to meet, network and share resources on a regular basis. 

April AIM HIGH Adult Parent Group Meeting - Wednesday, April 26, 6pm - 8pm
For the April meeting Karen Morgan, past president of Centre du syndrome de Down , and a parent of a son with Down syndrome will share her successful experience with Self Directed services which has resulted in her son and his wife living independently. Join us for an informational meeting to hear about Karen's experience and insights with Self Direction. Karen will answer questions that you may have.
